My purpose is to help to accelerate the transformation to a more sustainable, circular manufacturing industry, in which divers, multidisciplinary high performance teams strive for the highest wellbeing status for everyone, by creating a safe and trusted working environment.
What drives me? My purpose is to lead in the development for a more sustainable future situation for everybody, to plant the seed for the upscaling of new technologies, ways of thinking, different business models. To help/coach young people to be part of these steps forward; to become driven and engaged for the new future as a leader or accelerator. To build on their ideas for the future, have fun in doing this and be their go-to person if they need soundboarding. The positive mental state of people and everybody’s wellbeing is the highest purpose to be reached, in which money becomes a mean to get somewhere instead of the most important thing to strive for. In this journey I consider every person equal, every contribution vital and by teaming up the joy of going forward faster and faster will engage everyone. I will be genuine and honest, even if this is the difficult road to take. My view is that the manufacturing industry, globally, but for sure on European level, finds itself at the forefront of the next (industrial) revolution, to transform itself. By using all the latest technological developments to transform itself to be part of a net-zero, circular economy.
My inspiration: I believe I can plant the seeds for the transformation of the industry to become circular and net-zero, while keeping my personal norms and values as my guiding compass. The reason I choose to lead is because I want to help & coach people, provide a safe environment where mistakes are there to learn from, to make a difference in developing and bringing new technologies, innovations and way of thinking to secure a better/sustainable world for the ones that come after us, by learning from the past and progressing by change, equality and belonging are key characteristics, while preserving the fun of a team effort
I am an enthusiastic, all-round Senior Executive Leader, with a broad experience in Innovation Management, Innovation Strategy Development, New Business Development, Business Management and R&D.
Dutch from origin, having worked and lived in the US and France I have a good set of language skills and understanding of cultural differences, and even working in Flemish Belgium as a Dutch person shows that cultural differences are close-by and need to be considered. This experience has shown me that the subject of Diversity, Belonging and Inclusion is very close to my heart. People are the most valuable asset of any company and as such bringing the best out of every person and the team is one of my leading principles.
I find myself best placed in a B2B environment, experienced in both Chemical, (> 20 years at DSM), and Materials Industries (> 10 years at Sibelco), with a broad technical background. I am experienced in managing complex project-portfolios across different functional disciplines.
In the current industrial environment, I believe that being responsive and taking decisions on scenario thinking, driving teams to excel beyond their individual contributions are key and these are all important competencies I possess.
I am highly driven and committed to contribute through my experience and expertise to bring new solutions on the big challenges ahead of us, as there is the need for rethinking our usage and distribution of Energy and Natural resources, the need to go for a Circular Industry and Society. All these topics forces all of us to seek for new material solutions, business models and industrial processes.
